Introducing two of our candidates!

As was printed in The Lima News on January 23, we celebrated our first full year as a political party in Allen County at our monthly meeting the evening before.

We also offered the public an opportunity to meet several of our candidates that Sunday: Chris Kalla, a Shawnee resident who is running for Congress, Ohio District 4; Paul D. Hinds, a graduate of Perry High School and candidate for State Senate District 12; and Don Kissick, of Lima, seeking a seat as County Commissioner.

All three candidates present that evening hold or have held local positions of leadership for the Libertarian Party. Kissick presently chairs the ACLP. Hinds serves as ACLP treasurer. Kalla was Allen County's original County Development Coordinator: a position later held by Kissick in which both gentlemen were given the responsibility of organizing a county affiliate in the area.

New names to regular visitors of this Website, Kalla and another member of the Libertarian Party of Ohio, John Fockler, are running for party nominations to the November general election via primary election write-in campaigns.

He has served on the Libertarian Party of Ohio’s Central Committee, held the position of Finance Director for the LPO, and was first to serve in local leadership of the Libertarian Party here in Allen Co.

While part of the managerial crew at the YMCA in Kenton, Chris also is an active member of the Tea Party member over in Hardin County.

– Help him out! Request a Libertarian primary ballot on March 6, locate the "Representative to Congress" box, print Chris Kalla on the "Write-in" line, and darken-in the oval next to it.

John Fockler is counting on you for a write-in vote in the upcoming primary so he can run for the U.S. Senate seat up for election this year.

A self-described "lifer" in the hotel industry, he has worked for several years running the front offices of hotels in northeastern Ohio.

Additionally, John also has been active in party leadership at the state and local levels since joining in 1996. He also has been an active participant in the Campaign for Liberty –founded by supporters of Ron Paul.

– You can help him too! Just request a Libertarian ballot on March 6, locate the "U.S. Senator" box, and print John Fockler on the "Write-in" line. Be sure to darken-in the oval next to it.

Something new and exciting has emerged in West-Central Ohio: the Allen County Libertarian Party!

The ACLP is a steadily growing effort. We are a county-level affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Ohio.

How big can the Allen County Libertarian Party get?

Really, there is no limit. To build the most effective county organization possible, there would need to be enough registered party members to form an expanded executive committee and hold each of the following office titles:

Chair
Vice Chair
Treasurer
Secretary

Depending on the size of the county's membership, they could even elect one or more "at-large trustees." An At-Large Trustee is someone who serves on the executive committee who does not have any additional defined duties but retains the privilege to vote on any resolutions which may be presented during the regular meetings.

But such jobs would not come into being unless the county affiliate party grew enough in size.

There also is a Central Committee. Members of this committee represent specific wards in Allen County (for an explanation, review Bylaw D of our bylaws) and are elected by party members who reside in each ward.

The Central Committee's function primarily is to nominate and elect those who will sit on the Executive Committee. It also provides the necessary oversight of the Executive Committee to ensure its actions are in keeping with the Bylaws as well as state and federal election laws.

How can I get involved?
